New funding for addiction services

Southern Tier nonprofits have been awarded a $1.48 million state grant to bolster addiction programs in 11 counties.

The state Office of Addiction Services and Supports is giving the funds to the Mohawk Valley Behavioral Heath Care Collaborative and the South Central Behavioral Health Care Collaborative — two nonprofits about to merge.

The grant encompasses community programs focused on prevention, treatment and recovery. Local agencies that will benefit include:

  • Addiction Center of Broome County
  • Alcohol & Drug Council of Tompkins County
  • BRiDGES Madison County Council of Alcoholism & Substance Abuse
  • Fairview Recovery Services
  • Family & Children’s Counseling Services
