Finger Lakes United Ways merge

Six Upstate United Ways announced Monday that they had combined to form the United Way of Greater Rochester and the Finger Lakes.

The new organization encompasses United Way organizations in Monroe, Genesee, Livingston, Ontario, Wayne, and Wyoming counties.

Raising more than a combined $30 million annually, the group encompasses 5,144 square miles of rural, suburban, and urban communities. Current grant recipients have been notified that allocations will remain the same for August 2021 – July 2022.

The six United Ways have long worked together, with Monroe County providing back-office services
such as financial, IT, marketing, and human resources functions.

“People and businesses function across local geographic boundaries,” said Jaime Saunders, president and CEO. “Working together more cohesively across the region will make it easier for our business partners and donors to share resources, and our nonprofit partners to get elevated support so they can remain focused on providing services.”

The new website for the group is UnitedWayROCFLX.org.
