Donor-advised funds tilt toward education and religion
The Education and religious nonprofit sectors were the largest recipients of grants from donor-advised funds from 2014 to 2018, according to an analysis reported by The Conversation.
Using data from Giving USA, the study found that 29 percent of total fund support went to education-focused groups, and 14 percent went to churches and other religious organizations.
Additional research showed that priorities shifted in 2020 with the rise of the pandemic. Greater support went to food banks, homeless shelters and other nonprofits providing human services.
