Perry was named after Commodore Oliver H. Perry.
The Lewis J. and Clelia M. Serventi Family Foundation is the largest nonprofit in Perry. Lewis Serventi, who died in 2017, was co-founder of Lew-Mark Baking Company, which made Archway Cookies.
