Putnam County > Garrison
Boscobel, site of an early 19th-century home that was demolished after having fallen into disrepair, is now owned by one of the largest nonprofit organizations in Garrison. The structure was rebuilt as an historic house museum.
The Garrison Institute, which teaches the practice of contemplation, received a grant of $475,000 from the Kellogg Foundation to “expand healing-centered learning opportunities for educators.”
More than a third of the land here is held by nonprofit groups such as the Hudson Highlands Land Trust, Scenic Hudson and Open Space Institute, protecting it from future development.
School districts: Garrison Union Free School District
Libraries: Alice Curtis Desmond and Hamilton Fish Library
Emergency services: Garrison Volunteer Ambulance, Garrison Volunteer Fire Company
