Endicott was named for Henry Endicott, partner in the Endicott-Johnson Shoe Company.


The Endicott Johnson shoe company once employed thousands of people in the Triple Cities of Endicott, Binghamton and Johnson City. At its peak, in the 1920s, the company had a workforce of 20,000. The firm was sold in the 1960s and the last local factory closed in 1995.
