Macedon was named after the ancient region connecting the Greek peninsula with the Balkans.

The town of Macedon was awarded a $4.5 million NY Forward grant in 2023 to revitalize downtown. Projects include renovation of the former village hall to be headquarters for ambulance services; new townhouses and apartments; and recreational facilities at Gravino Park.
