Schoharie County > Sharon Springs
Wealthy city folk flocked to Sharon Springs at the turn of the 20th century for the mineral waters. The last spa closed in 2007. More recently, nonprofits and restoration grants have played large roles in local reinvestment.
Two of the individuals driving that investment, Josh Kilmer-Purcell and Brent Ridge, founded Beekman 1802, known for its mercantile and for its skincare products. Kilmer-Purcell and Ridge won “The Amazing Race” in 2012.
