NY hospitals at risk

Seventy hospitals in New York State face possible closure because of Medicaid cuts contained in the “Big Beautiful Bill,” according to a report released this week by the Fiscal Policy Institute.

The report noted that 70 of the state’s 156 hospitals drew more than a fourth of their revenue from Medicaid or other government programs. Fifteen of the hospitals are in the districts of Reps. Elise Stefanik and Nicholas Langworthy, both of whom have supported the cuts.

The report listed the following Upstate medical centers as non-government hospitals with more than 20 percent of net patient revenue coming from Medicaid or other government appropriations:
