The Arkell Hall Foundation, the largest nonprofit in Canajoharie, supports programs throughout the Mohawk Valley. The foundation is named for benefactor Bertelle Arkell Barbour, wife of Frank Barbour, who was head coach of the University of Michigan football team and chairman of Beech-Nut. The Arkell Museum at Canajoharie was begun by her brother, Bartlett Arkell, first president of Beech-Nut.
Canajoharie won a $4.5 million state grant in 2025 through the NY Forward program.
