Essex County > Keeseville

County: Essex

The community was named after the family of Richard Keese, congressman.

Keeseville won a $4.5 million grant through the state’s NY Forward program in 2025. The funds will be used to revitalize a 24-acre area along the Ausable River, with redevelopment of historic buildings into housing, restaurants, small businesses, and essential services.

One of the largest organizations here, the North Country Camps Foundation, runs Camp Lincoln for boys and Camp Whippoorwill for girls. Owned by the Gucker family for nearly a century, the camps transitioned to a nonprofit status in 2018.
